Columbia University President
Lee C. Bollinger, hearing news about the ill health of Iranian leader
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has wired the ruthless dictator with his wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
"My dearest friend, I want to express my best wishes for a full recovery and let you know that all of us here at Columbia who value free speech are praying that you will soon be able to resume your regular diet of bashing gays, Jews and Americans," Bollinger wrote.
Bollinger's office confirmed that the University president and trustee believes the Columbia community benefits from hearing the thoughts and plans of brutal killers such as Ahmadinejad. It's the same reason, a spokesman noted, that Bollinger sent Cuban leader Fidel Castro a Teddy-Gramm when he fell ill.
"Good, honest, peace loving people do not need our best wishes when they are ill," the spokesman noted. "But if Lee Bollinger doesn't reach out to bullies such as A-Jad, who will?"
Sources close to the Columbia University Board of Trustees say that should Ahmadinejad succumb to his illness, the University may name one or more campus facilities in his honor as a reminder of the importance of giving a platform to hateful world leaders.
